Understanding that T-Bucket owners are special people, So-Cal T’s was established in 2005 as a vehicle for T-Bucket owners to be able to assist each other with T-Bucket projects and problems, cruise and have fun in a family setting. Their big annual event is the 101 Fun Run where numerous T-Bucket owners travel from Arizona, Nevada and throughout California to participate in this day of cruising and fellowship. For a half-dozen years, I’ve heard from other T-Bucket owners that this is a must do event if you live anywhere near the area or can work it into your travel plans. The 101 Fun Run was even featured in Street Rodder magazine in 2007.
Although summer is still a few months away, we wanted to make sure all of you have plenty of time to plan for the 7th Annual So-Cal T’s Fun Run. This year they will be starting on Friday, August 5, 2011 with an optional cruise down the coast for a tour of the Birch Aquarium then lunch somewhere to be determined. Those who don’t want to go to the Aquarium can meet everyone else for or after lunch.
They will wrap up the day with an evening at Cruisin’ Grand, which for the uninitiated, is the large Friday night get-together in old town Escondido. There are usually 400 or so pre-1974 hot rods to see, and So-Cal T’s will be the hosted club with reserved parking for all T-buckets.
Saturday is a cruise down the coast which will end at the North Embarcadero Marina Park on San Diego Bay. Lots of sun, sailboats and other “scenery”.
For a copy of the event flyer and an application go here> or Contact Dennis ‘Flathead” Mahar at firstname.lastname@example.org or 760-634-2614.
Keep in mind that they have to turn in their event T-shirt order by July 2, so you need to have your application in before then to receive an event T-shirt. You can register later than that, even at the event, however they may not have extra shirts available.
It’s going to be a lot of fun, and the So-Cal T’s hope to see you there.
Which reminds us, that if you’re having a T-Bucket-focused event send the details and photos, if possible, to info@TBucketPlans.com and we’ll be happy to spread the word to other T-Bucket lovers.
